HVAC Installer / Mechanic FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Pay Range: $17-$40 / hr, depending on experience Position Overview We are seeking HVAC Installers and HVAC Installer-Mechanics at multiple experience levels to support residential and commercial projects. Team members are responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting HVAC systems while upholding Tactical's quality, safety, and customer service standards. Experienced professionals will take on advanced technical work and provide leadership and mentorship, while entry-level installers will receive hands-on training and growth opportunities. Key Duties & Responsibilities All HVAC Installers (Entry & Experienced): Install HVAC systems including furnaces, air handlers, rooftop units, split systems, and related equipment Fabricate and install sheet metal ductwork and associated components Install refrigeration, gas, hydronic, and miscellaneous piping Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and construction documents Connect HVAC systems to ductwork, refrigerant lines, controls, and electrical power Test systems to ensure proper operation and performance Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and basic troubleshooting Maintain accurate job documentation and material tracking Follow OSHA regulations, company safety standards, and PPE requirements Communicate professionally with team members, supervisors, and customers Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites Utilize Procore or similar software (training provided as needed) Additional Responsibilities for Experienced Installer-Mechanics: Diagnose and troubleshoot complex HVAC system issues Perform system startups, commissioning, and coordination with testing & balancing Install and troubleshoot electrical wiring, controls, thermostats, VFDs, and interfaces Ensure installations meet code, manufacturer specs, and quality standards Lead and mentor apprentices and junior installers Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, subcontractors, and other trades Serve as a technical leader on job sites with minimal supervision What We're Looking For Entry-Level Installer: High school diploma or equivalent HVAC or construction experience Willingness to learn and grow in the trade Familiarity with hand and power tools OSHA 10 preferred (or willingness to obtain) Experienced Installer-Mechanic: 5+ years of HVAC installation and service experience Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, codes, and safety regulations EPA Universal Certification required OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferred Leadership mindset and strong problem-solving skills For All Candidates: Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varied environments Comfortable working indoors, outdoors, at heights, and in tight spaces Strong communication, professionalism, and integrity Benefits: Paid Time Off Paid Holidays Medical, Dental, Vision insurance available 401k Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Training Opportunities This is a full time position
