VITAS Vet-to-Vet Volunteer - The Mission Continues

A veteran's journey doesn't end when they come home. Now, a new kind of mission is at hand, one that offers comfort, compassion, and companionship to fellow veterans nearing the end of their lives. We are seeking military veteran volunteers to connect with terminally ill patients, providing a unique bond of shared experience that only another veteran can truly understand. What your service will entail As a "Vet-to-Vet" volunteer, you will be paired with a veteran patient to offer support that can profoundly impact their final journey. Your responsibilities may include: Sharing life stories and reminiscing about shared military experiences. Providing a calming, friendly presence at the bedside. Assisting with special veteran recognition events, such as pinning ceremonies. Helping patients connect with their veteran benefits or replace lost medals. Simply being there as a compassionate and understanding friend.
