Position Overview: The Mechanical Assembly Specialist collaborates with engineers, designers, and managers to fit and assemble components in alignment with blueprints, manuals, engineering memos, and sketches. This role involves teamwork and reports to the Assembly Supervisor. As per the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), this position is classified as non-exempt. Your Responsibilities: Read and interpret manufacturing requirements, specifications, procedures, and work statements; provide recommendations to Management, engineers/designers, and project managers. Verify parts conformance with stock lists and blueprints using measuring instruments, including calipers, gauges, and micrometers. Execute bench-type processes to assemble mechanical components and subassemblies according to specifications using manual tools and electronic/pneumatic tooling, potentially including manual machining. Test and inspect the completed products to ensure adherence to manufacturing specifications and rectify any defects. Actively contribute as part of the assembly team, working collaboratively with other assemblers and technicians. Maintain a clean and orderly 5S work area and adhere to prescribed safety regulations, including the reporting of defective materials. What You Bring to the Role: To thrive in this position, you should fulfill the following requirements: An Associate’s degree in a manufacturing-related discipline or a 2-year technical diploma. 1-2 years of experience in mechanical assembly. A strong mechanical aptitude with keen attention to detail. The ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings/blueprints. Comprehension of Electrostatic Discharge principles. Familiarity with pneumatic controls. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Preferred Qualifications: 3 years of mechanical knowledge or a technical program. Capability to interpret and manipulate 2D and 3D CAD drawings. Willingness to work extended hours during peak demand periods. Work Environment: Physical Demands: The following physical requirements are essential for this role, with accommodations available for individuals with disabilities: Ability to stand for long periods. Frequent hand manipulation and grasping Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and twisting movements. Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Working Conditions: Work will be conducted indoors in a climate-controlled manufacturing setting, with exposure to typical elements such as dust, noise, machine chemicals, and other common characteristics of this environment. Consistent attendance and the ability to work a full-time schedule during core business hours are crucial. Compensation includes hourly pay and performance-based quarterly profit sharing, with salaries ranging from $19 to $24 per hour based on experience.
