Collect and select samples of machined parts for inspection. Read blueprints and inspection data sheets to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, and measuring instruments required. Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using instruments such as indicators, micrometers, and optical measurement systems. Write test or inspection reports describing results. Label parts containers with respect to their inspection status. Verify the results of outside processing of parts, such as grinding, plating, and heat treating. Assist with gage control and calibration. MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:· High school diploma minimum.· 1 to 3 years minimum as a mechanical quality inspector with understanding of blueprints, gages, calibration, and measurement techniques.· Good math skills and understanding of GD&T symbols.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Lifting and Bending - Occasional bending and stooping. Hearing - Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication. Repetitive Motions – Some movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Sitting – Maintaining body position by sitting at desk. Talking - Expressing or exchanging ideas through verbal means, including those activities in which one must convey detailed, spoken instructions to others accurately and/or quickly. Visual – Requires vision sufficient to perform work dealing largely with preparing and analyzing data and figures, operating computer terminal, and reading.
