We are here to help and make a difference in our community. Apply now! The Social Services Director will develop and expand social service programs. Oversee all Social Service departments especially related to housing services, emergency and food related services, prevention and outreach services. Support The Salvation Army's mission within the context of social work and encourages clients to participate in all activities, including the spiritual activities offered. About the role: Supervises all social service programs and managers so that programs correlate with each other in terms of screening and referrals. Plans, coordinates, instructs, supervises, monitors and evaluates the work performance of the Social Services staff. Recruits, screens, interviews and recommends for hire persons for Social Service department positions. Makes recommendations to the Corps Officer for promotions and terminations. Conducts regular staff meetings for the Social Services staff in which necessary social service matters can be discussed, and instruction and training provided. Conducts regular one-on-one supervision with department managers to provide ongoing supervision, to include goal setting, accountability, and support. Provides on-going direction and training to managers through in-house and external programs. Prepares and submits grants and other funding proposals for existing programs as well as developing The Salvation Army's funding base for new programs. Prepares and submits monthly, quarterly and bi-annual reports to all necessary funders. Gathers and analyzes monthly statistics to determine The Salvation Army's Social Service effectiveness and its future directions. Represents The Salvation Army at local and state meetings regarding Social Service issues. Directs the maintenance of adequate client files by standardizing, revising and initiating necessary tracking documents. Maintains the documentation and ongoing reports needed for government licensing, funding and other sources of assistance. Understands and directs adherence to The Salvation Army file retention policy. Ensures compliance with Salvation Army Social Services policies and procedures in all programs, including confidentiality and ethics. Utilizes The Salvation Army National standards for social service programs to maintain programs and acts as team leader in periodically evaluating compliance standards utilizing self-study tools required for program certification.. Oversees the review and revision of all policies and procedures related to Social Services. Serves as part of the Management Team for providing vision, oversight and accountability of services and operations. Oversees and assists in creating and maintaining the budgets for the Social Services departments. Addresses and resolves complaints and grievances relating to Social Services department. Maintains and develops positive public relations with agencies and organizations on behalf of The Salvation Army's Social Services in Wausau. Continues personal, professional development through seminars, conferences, trainings, community meetings, memberships and other affiliations. Leads and coordinates the social services team through the recertification process through The Salvation Army. Coordinates Christmas promotion, intake and distribution. Participates in major fund raising, public and seasonal Corps events which benefit the shelter residents and clients. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field. MSW preferred Certifications: Valid Wisconsin Driver's license with approval to drive from the Salvation Army's insurance carrier. Wisconsin State Certification as a Social Worker is helpful. Experience: Five years of social work management experience. - OR - Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
