Job Description The Engine Validation Engineer is responsible for building and executing the engine validation plan for a major vehicle program. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Carry out Bill of Materials (BOM) management, releasing the BOM into BOM management system. Coordinate build schedule to meet Customer (Testing & Vehicle Builds / Others). Lead / support actual engine build in EBU and preparation in METS. Support Dyno Testing. Successfully build and deliver Engine Assemblies to dyno cells for design verification (DV) testing and Mule level vehicle builds. Product Launches noted in section(iv) below. Lead the Maintenance, Development, and Improvement of Test Procedures, Design Validation Plans, ("DV") and Process Validation plans ("PV") for Internal Combustion Engines. Provide technical expertise in investigation of validation issues, root cause analysis, mitigation, and corrective action plans. Conduct tests, recreate failure modes identified during validation testing, or warranty claims. Create Incident Reports for each issue to ensure engineering team drives issues to closure. After testing, organize the post test analysis and teardown activity along with the project team to identify any issues or concerns. Review reports with the Chief Engineer and file them in PDS. Requirements A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering A minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field Understanding of automotive processes such as DFMEA and DVP&R Preferred Requirements: Advanced degree in with emphasis in engine development, control systems, or calibration. Understanding of CAN communication Working experience in creation and execution of validation plans for engine components. 5 years or more in design, development and / or validation of engines Experience with engine teardowns and rebuilds
