RLF is currently seeking part-time student interns for our Mechanical Engineering Discipline. This position will report to the Director of Mechanical Engineering. A successful candidate will be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and have a solid foundational knowledge of methods, practices, and programs that relate to this discipline. As a Mechanical Engineer - HVAC Intern, you will support the design, analysis, and implementation of HVAC systems for various types of building projects. You will work closely with experienced engineers to learn the fundamentals of HVAC engineering including system design, energy efficiency analysis, load calculations, and more. This internship will provide you with the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge to real-world projects while developing skills that will be critical to your future engineering career. In this role you will Use software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or others) to produce technical drawings and schematics. Assist in the design and modeling of HVAC systems for healthcare and/or federal projects. Help perform HVAC calculations Support the creation of detailed HVAC system designs, including ductwork, piping, and equipment layouts. Collaborate with senior engineers on system integration and equipment selection. May participate in site visits. Research and analyze new HVAC technologies and innovations to improve system performance and sustainability. Work in partnership with a multi-discipline team of engineers, architects, and designers to help produce constructible drawing packages. Additional duties as assigned. RequirementsIn pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Junior or Senior year student preferred. Previous internship or project experience is a plus but not required. Reads and understands technical drawings, schematics, and other relevant reports. Effective communication including verbal, written, non-verbal, and speech. Cooperative attitude and collaborative approach. Open to feedback. Able to respond appropriately to directions and change requests. Critical thinking and reasoning with the ability to forecast and analyze problems and produce solutions. Effective execution of tasks within scope and schedule.
