OverviewJob Title: Environmental Technician I Length of Project: 6 Months to 1 Year Summary of Position: LATA is seeking a hardworking and safety focused Environmental Technician to support field operations for the Kairos Power Hermes 1 Demonstration Reactor project in Oak Ridge, TN. In this role, you will assist with environmental sampling, safe handling and packaging of regulated materials, and general field support within an active construction environment. You will work closely with site management and environmental professionals to maintain compliance, uphold safety standards, and ensure efficient day to day operations. Responsibilities • Soil Sampling Activities • Perform field operational activities to include identification and removal/packaging of federal and state regulated material for compliant disposition. • Ability to work safely with power tools, sledgehammers, carpenter tools, and instrumentation such as Radiological meters. • Ability to work outdoors 90% of the workday around construction vehicles and heavy equipment in variable weather conditions. • Significant amount of bending over to clean debris from the ground and lifting of loads • Follow written and verbal instructions. • Maintain a safe worksite through housekeeping duties. • Perform duties as assigned by the Site Manager. • Ensure compliance with federal, state, customer, and LATA safety procedures. QualificationsMinimum Experience Required: • High School Diploma • Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards • Good communication skills • Ability to work with hand tools • Able to follow directions • Ability to work under less than favorable conditions Preferred Experience: • HAZWOPER 40 Hour Training with refreshers • Previous experience working on a government site • Radiological work experience • Hazardous Material handling work experience Pay Range USD $21.00 - USD $35.00 /Hr.
