Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Nurse Manager to lead and inspire nursing staff in delivering exceptional, safe, and high-quality patient care within a telemetry unit. This leadership role requires a blend of clinical expertise, interpersonal skills, and the ability to foster a positive work environment. The Assistant Nurse Manager will oversee daily operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate closely with the leadership team to enhance staff performance and patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols. Engage with patients and families to uphold service excellence standards and address concerns promptly. Communicate effectively and professionally, facilitating conflict resolution when necessary. Participate in policy development and decision-making processes to promote evidence-based nursing practices. Assume accountability for unit performance in quality, operations, finance, and compliance. Advocate for patients by coordinating care across healthcare disciplines and ensuring continuity of services. Collaborate with various departments to optimize workflow and patient throughput. Support recruitment, selection, and retention efforts for nursing personnel. Address ethical considerations and respect individual patient rights in care planning. Manage staffing schedules and assignments, ensuring appropriate utilization based on competencies and patient needs. Lead or participate in quality improvement projects and attend relevant committees. Evaluate staff performance, provide coaching, and conduct appraisals as needed. Contribute to budget development and monitor productivity standards. Promote a healthy work environment that minimizes occupational illness and injury. Commit to ongoing professional growth and development. Qualifications Minimum of five years as a Registered Nurse, including at least two years in acute care or a similar setting. At least one year of recent experience in a charge nurse or supervisory role. Strong knowledge of nursing scope of practice, nursing process, and individualized care planning. Ability to work independently and collaboratively to seek resources and solve problems. Competent in assessing nursing needs of acute and chronically ill patients and their families. Proficient with computer systems and adaptable to new software. Capable of providing direct patient care. Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with seven years of relevant RN experience may be considered. Licenses and Certifications Current Registered Nurse license in the state of California. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. National certification in specialty area preferred. Required certifications vary by unit, including but not limited to ACLS, PALS, NIH Stroke Scale, ONS chemotherapy & biotherapy provider, and NVCI. Additional Requirements Successful completion of physical evaluation, drug screening, and background checks prior to employment.
