Purpose of Announcement EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF WATER AND FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR. Kind of Work This position is responsible for monitoring advanced metering Infrastructure equipment and ensuring secure connectivity, configuration and device performance. Supports the resolution of incident and problem management between operations center (i.e. AMOC) and field services teams, monitor field service requests and give direction on troubleshooting-related work orders. Assists in the analysis of device communication routes and reliability; troubleshoots unreachable devices and issue device configuration files remotely. Monitors device management systems-i.e. AMI head-end system-for events and alarms, triage actionable activities. Conducts investigation of relevant device events and alarms, ensure that device-related incidents are resolved in a timely and consistent manner; provide technical support after-hours or on holidays if required. This position is an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or their designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish. Position requires driving of a Parish vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record will be given preference. Minimum Qualifications For Admission to Examination Possession of an Associate's degree or higher in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field; PLUS, substantial (at least 1 year 9 months) paid work experience utilizing one of the following program languages: SQL, C/C++, Java, or Python. Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate but not to exceed the listed salary range. Jefferson Parish pays 80% of the premium for employees and 50% of the premiums for dependents. A Flexible Benefits Plan Employees have the opportunity to save money by paying for health insurance and optional insurance with pre-tax dollars. A Flexible Savings Account for Medical Expenses and Dependent Care is also available. Retirement Most regular employees belong to the Parochial Employees' Retirement System instead of the Social Security System. For employees hired after January 01, 2007, a pension calculated at 3% of salary per year of service is provided upon retirement at age 67 with 7 years of service, age 62 with 10 years of service, or age 55 with 30 years of service. Tenure Payment Employees are paid $25 per year of service in December of each year. Employees must have worked two years before the first check is paid. Deferred Compensation Plan(457b plan) Similar to 401K programs, the 457b Deferred Plan allows employees to defer up to $14,000 of pretax income each year to supplement retirement savings. Pre-tax contributions can be cashed in upon retirement or termination without penalty. This plan is provided by Nationwide Retirement Solutions 1-877-677-3678.
