We're seeking an Information Systems Specialist teammate who can deftly handle a wide range IT responsibilities while delivering excellent customer service to all City departments. These include: City Manager's Office Community Development Finance Fire Human Resources Library Parks Police Public Works What you'll do: Install, configure, troubleshoot, and procure workstations, laptops, and peripherals across multiple sites across the City Manage helpdesk tickets and provide deskside technical support to all City employees Provide end-user support for business applications Document your procedures and maintain inventories We're looking for a teammate with: Strong customer service skills and the ability to support users across multiple departments with diverse business requirements A strong sense of self-direction and judgment to manage your own workload and priorities A genuine teamwork mindset within a highly collaborative IT team culture Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and tackling new challenges A sharp sense of humor; the IT team thrives on sarcasm, caffeine, and surprisingly passionate opinions about whether Tolkien or Star Wars films should have ended three movies ago A day in the life might go something like this (25% tier 1, 75% tier 2): In the morning you troubleshoot a camera system in a patrol car, configure accounts for new users in AD and M365, and deploy a few smartphones in MDM. Just before lunch you get a call to replace a laptop dock at a fire station, and while you're there they need a network printer moved. At lunch you might join some of the Lucky 13 at a local restaurant, or meet for our quarterly team BBQ's or potlucks. It's hard to beat the quality of the restaurants within a few blocks of City Hall, so settling on a lunch choice might be difficult. In the afternoon you take a helpdesk shift, assigning and triaging tickets while working on your own ticket queue, documentation, and projects. You'll also order a few smartphones, laptops, and peripherals so they're ready for those new employees coming in next week. After that, you'll update the inventories and take a look at your priorities for the next day. You notice you'll be onboarding a group of users at new-hire orientation the next morning. At the end of the month, you might join a cooperative gaming session where the team tackles challenges together, whether that's responding to a simulated cybersecurity incident, solving a crime scenario, or defeating some cryptids. These sessions hone our communication and strategy skills while giving everyone a chance to have some fun. Qualifications & Requirements Education and Experience: Associate degree in computer science or similar field with considerable course work in information technology systems administration and maintenance; or Three years' experience in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of information technology systems. Special Requirements: Must successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation, including criminal history check, and integrity interview that establishes strong moral character. WORK ENVIRONMENT In the performance of the job duties, the employee will be working in a flexible office environment under usual office working conditions. Work will be performed in offices, conference rooms, virtual offices (telecommuting), and public spaces. The noise level in the work area is typical of most office environments, with telephones, personal interruptions, and background noises. The employee may occasionally work in outside weather conditions, in City vehicles, and at land use development and construction sites. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions or airborne particles. The noise level is moderate to loud in the field.
