As part of Beacon Health System, patients have access to providers, resources and services from across the entire health system. The hospital provides the community with: Emergency Department; diagnostic imaging and lab; radiology, including MRI, CT and ultrasound; general surgery; obstetrics; sleep lab; mammography; physical and occupational therapy; occupational health; swing bed services; and infusion therapy. What You'll Do As an Occupational Therapist, you will evaluate patients, plan treatment programs, and provide therapy interventions to restore function, prevent disability, and improve quality of life following disease, injury, or surgery. In addition, you'll contribute to Swing Bed patient care plans by supporting individualized activities. Occupational Therapist Job Responsibilities Evaluate and assess patients, establish treatment goals, and develop individualized care plans. Provide therapy interventions using appropriate procedures, equipment, and techniques within the scope of occupational therapy. Educate patients and caregivers on therapy goals, treatment methods, and expected outcomes. Reevaluate patients and monitor progress, recommending next steps or disposition. Instruct patients and families on home programs, injury prevention, and adaptive strategies. Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and reassessments per established standards. Complete the Initial Activity Assessment for Swing Bed patients upon admission and develop activity plans, ensuring implementation by the Swing Bed Coordinator. Collaborate with healthcare professionals and referral sources to coordinate care. Supervise and direct Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs), assistants, interns, aides, and volunteers to ensure quality care and compliance with department standards. Participate in departmental operations, including staff meetings, supply management, and orthopedic conferences. Complete other job-related duties and projects as assigned. What You Bring You bring strong clinical knowledge, adaptability, and a patient-centered approach to help individuals reach their highest level of independence. Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. License: Current license to practice Occupational Therapy in Indiana. Certification: Current BLS certification required. Skills: Proficiency in evaluation tools, modalities, exercise equipment, ADL adaptive equipment, and outpatient occupational therapy practices. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required. Working Conditions Patient care environment requiring physical exertion and frequent changes in job demands. Potential exposure to biohazards and environmental risks common in healthcare. Physical Demands Ability to walk/stand for long periods, push carts/wheelchairs up to 50 lbs., and lift/position patients up to 35 lbs. independently (assistance required over 35 lbs.).
