Job Title: Mechanical DrafterJob DescriptionJoin our dynamic team as a Mechanical Drafter, where you will support the Product Lifecycle Engineering team in resolving design issues across multiple factories. Your role will involve preparing detailed working diagrams of machinery and electrical devices, including dimensions, fastening methods, and other engineering information. Collaborate closely with production workers to ensure smooth manufacturing processes and lead improvement activities.Responsibilities Support the development of insulation designs, patterns, drawings, cutter programming, and dry fitting parts on production units. Lead improvement activities and design robust patterns to reduce waste. Review and correct BOM structures for errors in components and quantities. Manage inventory variances, lead weekly review meetings, and determine obsolescence actions. Coordinate and consult with production workers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and resolve design or other problems. Lead design change projects and evaluate continuous improvements in design and manufacturing. Work closely with design teams in India, Wisconsin, and Canada to ensure effective communication and issue resolution in factories. Essential Skills Proficiency in CAD software, including Creo or SolidWorks. 1-3 years of experience in mechanical drafting (internships or co-op experience counts). High school diploma or GED required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field. Experience with HVAC systems, mechanical fasteners, copper brazing and soldering. BOM management software OR windchill experience. Work EnvironmentThis is a fully on-site position requiring travel between sites on a day-to-day basis. Factory hours are from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. You will participate in production meetings at each factory to address issues and provide solutions.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Grand Rapids, MI.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
