Position Description Description A Heavy Equipment Mechanic performs the hands-on aspect of preventative maintenance and repairs of heavy duty vehicles (26,000+ lbs) as well as coordinates the teams of mechanics and ensures the timely completion of repairs. Persons in these roles will possess a working knowledge of the types of heavy equipment used within their industry and are prepared to make repairs to a variety of heavy duty vocational trucks but not limited to other CMV's. Position Requirements General Responsibilities: Possess working knowledge of leadership management skills Maintain maintenance records and documentation in accordance with government regulations and local policies Creating schedules for preventative maintenance Ability to order/receive parts Maintain an orderly parts room/area Monitor and Maintain the following: Brakes Tires Lube Services Clutches Hydraulics Minor welding and/or fabrication Electrical Diagnostics Annual periodical inspections A/C Systems Coolant Systems Physical Requirements: Must be able to balance, bend, carry, crouch, stretch and knee Must be able to push, pull, and reach Must be able to work in high noise areas Must be able to lift 50 lbs and small parts Equal Opportunity Employer PALMETTO CORP IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER.
