Job Description

Summary: Provide essential patient care with compassion and attentiveness in a busy medical surgical telemetry unit focused on stroke patients. Assist with admissions, orient patients to the unit, and support nursing care plans by performing delegated tasks. Maintain a safe, clean, and well-stocked environment to promote patient comfort and safety. Key Responsibilities: Assist patients directly or communicate their needs to appropriate staff. Support nursing plans by carrying out assigned patient care duties. Help maintain patient safety through proper use of equipment and supplies. Manage supply rooms and ensure availability of patient care items. Participate in cost containment and accurate patient service charging. Engage in educational and performance improvement activities. Perform waived testing and maintain required skills per unit competency. Demonstrate commitment to customer satisfaction and efficient patient throughput. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Nursing Assistant certification mandatory. Current registration with the appropriate state nursing assistant registry. Experience: No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided. Skills and Abilities: Excellent communication and guest relations skills. Ability to read and write English. Flexibility in work tasks and schedules. Basic computer proficiency. Understanding of age-specific patient care considerations. Physical Requirements: Ability to work variable shifts including nights. Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and patient turning. Visual and auditory acuity to observe patient conditions. Exposure to blood and body fluids possible, requiring adherence to safety protocols. Licenses and Certifications: BLS certification from the American Heart Association and current Nursing Assistant certification required.
