Risk Operations Manager

Join our dynamic Operational Risk team as a Risk Operations Manager and be a key player in driving risk mitigation strategies across all business lines at UMB. This hybrid position (on-site Monday through Thursday and remote on Friday) is available for candidates in the Kansas City, MO or Dubuque, IA metropolitan areas. We also welcome qualified remote candidates from anywhere within the US. Key Responsibilities: Proactively manage and oversee departmental expenses to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints. Acquire a thorough understanding of departmental functions to make informed decisions. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all departmental processes and procedures. Support training initiatives that promote the professional development of staff. Analyze productivity, quality, and efficiency reports, addressing any gaps identified. Create and manage reporting systems that deliver timely and accurate insights for management. Attract, identify, and retain top talent within the team. Encourage cross-training to enhance team versatility and depth. Set ambitious goals that inspire innovation and growth among staff and management. Conduct regular coaching sessions with direct reports and mentor others within Enterprise Bank Operations. Address underperformance through established performance improvement strategies. Build and sustain strong relationships with both internal and external clients, including third-party vendors. Implement and uphold documented controls as part of our risk management process. Assist with data collection and reviews for internal and external audits within relevant departments. Follow up on audit findings to resolve outstanding issues within Enterprise Bank Operations. Collaborate with various internal partners to enhance operational processes. Keep informed on and uphold documentation related to Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans. Foster a culture of ownership and accountability within the organization. Participate in customer business reviews, RFPs, and related activities to strengthen relationships. Provide expertise and support for products and services, ensuring optimal service delivery to UMB customers. Ideal Candidate Profile: Minimum of 5 years in banking operations with at least 2 years in a managerial role. Experience in the following areas: Banking compliance Banking risk Project management in banking, finance, or technology sectors. Experience with regulatory reviews and risk management initiatives. Knowledge of AML-CFT, Reg CC, Reg E, and other relevant banking regulations. A proven ability to effectively lead high-quality team initiatives. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field. 7+ years of experience in the financial services industry. Proficiency with Power BI for reporting and dashboards. Experience in SharePoint design. Applicants must have legal authority to work in the United States.
