Lead Financial Reporting Specialist Join our dynamic Finance Accounting team at Zurich North America as a Lead Financial Reporting Specialist. This pivotal role enhances our department's capabilities in accounting entries, analysis, and reporting, and offers a flexible hybrid schedule from our corporate headquarters in Schaumburg, IL, or our Chicago, IL office. In this essential position, you will play a key role in the financial accounting process, ensuring compliance with IFRS, GAAP, and Statutory reporting standards. Your ability to communicate and document financial statement impacts will be fundamental to supporting strategic business objectives. Your primary responsibilities include: Provide support for diverse general and sub-ledger transactions related to Group reporting and local GAAP compliance. Maintain one or more ledger categories or charts of accounts as part of your daily operations. Execute and review SOX controls, adhering to Group internal guidelines. Process complex transactions while effectively communicating and documenting their financial statement impacts to management. Prepare and review intricate reconciliations, managing complex collections and settlements efficiently. Prepare detailed financial reports and identify as well as rectify errors promptly. Analyze financial statements and ledger accounts, skillfully preparing complex spreadsheets. Oversee budget preparation and trend analysis, recommending solutions to identified challenges. Conduct detailed accounting research and apply advanced accounting theories to transactions. Identify opportunities for process enhancements and efficiencies, developing and presenting actionable plans to management. Communicate complex concepts clearly to supervisors and external stakeholders. Encourage teamwork and lead or contribute to project work streams. Supervise analyses conducted by junior staff. Participate in interdisciplinary projects, assessing impacts on local reporting units and implementing local changes. Be open to travel for business as required. Be prepared for extended working hours during peak periods as necessary. Fulfill applicable exam and licensing requirements. Maintain reliable and predictable attendance. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree with 6+ years of accounting or finance experience, OR High School Diploma or Equivalent with 8+ years of accounting or finance experience, OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 6+ years of accounting or finance experience, AND Experience with accounting and financial reporting, as well as general ledger and reporting tools. Preferred Qualifications: CPA certification. Advanced understanding of accounting principles. Experience in the insurance sector. Extensive experience with general ledger transactions. Project management proficiency. Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office. Technological expertise in General Ledger, financial reporting systems, Business Objects, or other data query tools. Strong verbal and written communication abilities. Your compensation is reflective of your role, location, skills, and experience, complying with local laws to ensure equitable pay. Bonuses and merit increases may be available. If your expectations exceed the listed salary range, we still encourage you to apply-your unique experience matters to us. The proposed salary range for this position is $96,000.00 - $157,000.00, with 15% short-term incentive bonus eligibility.
