Software Engineering Director - Tax Ignition Team

KPMG is seeking a dynamic Engineering Director to lead our Tax Ignition Team with the flexibility of a hybrid work environment. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement long-term roadmaps and technical strategies for large-scale projects, utilizing cloud services, microservices, frontend frameworks, and AI/ML integrations. Act as the main liaison between business stakeholders, enterprise architects, security officers, and product leaders to establish project priorities, scopes, and budgets. Oversee end-to-end program delivery; lead design reviews, enforce best practices (including infrastructure as code, containerization, and API standards), and validate proofs of concept for new technologies like LLM fine-tuning. Recruit, mentor, and foster a high-performing engineering team (including full-stack, data science, and DevOps professionals), creating clear pathways for career growth and promoting a culture of continuous learning. Collaborate closely with security and risk teams to embed security-by-design principles, ensuring compliance through threat modeling, automated security scans, and penetration testing. Uphold integrity, professionalism, and accountability to enhance KPMG's respectful workplace environment. Qualifications: A minimum of ten years of software engineering experience and at least five years in a leadership role; demonstrated success in managing complex enterprise programs on Azure. A Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field is preferred; a Master's degree is highly desirable. Extensive experience with Python, .NET (Framework/Core), C#, PowerShell, Angular, TypeScript, and familiarity with LLM fine-tuning and DevOps/CICD practices. Exceptional communication skills, with a proven ability to present to executive leadership and translate business needs into effective technical solutions; an entrepreneurial mindset that thrives in uncertain environments. In-depth understanding of software engineering principles, including microservices architecture and RESTful APIs, with hands-on experience building enterprise systems. Outstanding Python skills and familiarity with ML frameworks, coupled with strong analytical abilities, are essential.
