Job Category Claim Compensation Overview This position offers a competitive annual base salary reflective of the nationwide market range. Your actual salary will consider the complexity of the role, skills, education, training, and experience. We also provide performance-based cash incentive awards as part of our comprehensive compensation package. Salary Range $67,000.00 - $110,600.00 What Is the Opportunity? This role includes a potential sign-on bonus and primarily involves managing property claims. The ideal candidate must be open to living in or relocating to the Washington DC area. You will oversee first-party property claims by investigating, evaluating, and negotiating claims of moderate complexity while ensuring high-quality customer service. What Will You Do? Manage first-party property claims of moderate severity as assigned. Conduct field inspections, document damages, and provide precise assessments. Utilize innovative technologies throughout the claims process. Investigate and evaluate facts to determine coverage, damages, and liability. Establish and maintain accurate claim reserves. Determine and negotiate appropriate settlement amounts. Draft correspondence, including denial letters and Reservations of Rights. Assess damages and employ cost evaluation tools effectively. Ensure compliance with internal standards and state regulations. Deliver exceptional customer service to insured individuals and business partners. Refer claims to specialized units when necessary. Execute administrative tasks such as expense reporting. Provide assistance with multi-line claims, including auto and general liability as needed. Mentor junior claim professionals. Engage in legal proceedings as required. Participate in catastrophe response efforts, which may involve temporary deployment. Maintain compliance with company credit card policies. Obtain necessary insurance licenses within the specified timeframe. Conduct resolution desk technical work when required. What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have? Bachelor's Degree preferred. Experience with estimating systems such as Xactimate preferred. A minimum of two years of outside property claim handling experience preferred. Advanced interpersonal and customer service skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently. Good judgment, analytical, and decision-making skills. Intermediate negotiation skills. Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Proficient investigative skills. Ability to analyze coverage and damage evaluations. Experience resolving claims within settlement authority. Valid passport preferred. What is a Must Have? High School Diploma or GED required. A minimum of one year of outside property claim handling experience or successful completion of Travelers' training program required. Valid driver's license required. What Is in It for You?
