The Director of G&A IT plays a crucial role in leading enterprise technology solutions to support vital business operations across Cengage Group's General & Administrative functions. This position oversees a variety of technology platforms, including Product Information Management, Product Data Management, ERP integrations, HR systems, and B2B e-commerce, ensuring seamless integration with critical enterprise applications like SAP and CRM. Key Responsibilities: Platform & Systems Management: Oversee PIM, PDM, JD Edwards (E1), HR systems, EDI platforms, and related applications. Drive modernization initiatives and manage technology roadmaps for designated systems. Implement strategies to reduce technical debt, focusing on cost optimization and architectural simplification. Lead retirement of legacy systems and application rationalization efforts. Manage vendor relationships and evaluate new technology solutions. Ensure reliability, performance, and security of all managed platforms. Program & Project Delivery: Deliver business initiatives on time and within scope, especially for company-wide transformation programs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on large-scale implementations of ERP, CRM, and more. Manage Agile delivery and continuously improve development practices. Identify problems and opportunities proactively and take decisive action. Simultaneously manage multiple projects while maintaining a strategic focus. Stakeholder Management & Collaboration: Build and maintain strong relationships with business leaders. Collaborate closely with teams across Product Management, Legal, HR, Finance, and more. Effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Manage relationships with external vendors and outsourced partners. Work with stakeholders to establish priorities and manage expectations. Act as a trusted advisor to internal customers, resolving issues and facilitating solutions. Team Leadership: Lead and mentor software engineering and technical teams. Provide clear direction on priorities and empower teams for effective execution. Encourage collaboration between technology teams and business process owners. Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Support professional growth and career development for team members. Qualifications and Skills Required: 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience managing enterprise applications (ERP, PIM/PDM, HR, e-commerce). Successful track record of leading large-scale system implementations in fast-paced environments. Strong understanding of enterprise systems, integration architectures, Agile methodologies, and modern software practices. Experience with data management, EDI, e-commerce technologies, and vendor management. Proven leadership ability to scale teams and deliver results through delegation. Strategic problem-solver who effectively balances execution and long-term objectives. Excellent communication skills to translate complexity into business value. Compensation Details: At Cengage Group, we are dedicated to offering a comprehensive Total Rewards package to empower our employees. The position includes eligibility for a discretionary incentive bonus program based on individual performance and company results. The salary range for this role is $138,000.00 - $180,000.00 USD, with individual base pay varying by work schedule, qualifications, and geographic location.
