The Internal Audit team at Coinbase operates as an independent third-line function, directly reporting to the Coinbase Audit Committee. Our mission is to evaluate and audit the effectiveness of governance, compliance, risk management, and control processes. As a key member of this in-house team, you'll play a vital role in strategic analysis, risk assessments, developing audit plans, project management, quality reviews, report issuance, and issue validation across IT and business functions. By conducting comprehensive audits—including planning, walkthroughs, testing, deficiency remediation, and report writing in line with regulatory requirements—you'll help solidify our leading industry position. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with a global internal audit team and outsourced partners to establish best-in-class audit practices. Innovate in Audit Methodology: Revamp internal audit methodologies by incorporating cutting-edge practices and continuously improving processes. Lead initiatives to integrate Generative AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics into audit programs. Create and implement processes to unite relevant data sources across the organization. Stay informed about emerging trends in AI, data analytics, and technology risks. Drive innovation to enhance audit practices for improved efficiency and effectiveness. Data Analytics and Quality Assurance: Gather and analyze data to ensure thoroughness and accuracy in audits. Lead a comprehensive Quality Assurance and Improvement Program (QAIP). Conduct periodic internal reviews and support external assessments. Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management: Act as the primary liaison during regulatory examinations. Stay informed on regulatory trends in crypto, digital assets, and blockchain. Collaborate with Compliance and Risk Management to foster a robust risk culture. Training and Development: Design and implement a thorough training program for the audit team. Mentor team members on analytics-driven strategies. Track training progress for the internal audit team. Reporting and Governance: Regularly present updates to the Chief Audit Executive and Audit Committee on key metrics and QAIP findings. Develop dashboards and reporting frameworks to monitor the health of the Internal Audit function. Oversee budgets and hours for the Internal Audit Department to ensure effective resource allocation. General Duties: Ensure the integrity of reporting tools and data. Create and implement high-quality internal and external reports. Engage in special projects and respond to ad-hoc requests. Research and resolve complex transactions and workflow challenges. What We Look For: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. A degree in a technical field or relevant professional qualification (e.g., CISA, CISSP, CFE, CPA, CIA). 8+ years of experience in consulting, strategy, or internal auditing. Deep understanding of IIA Standards and regulatory expectations for financial services. Experience with program strategy and effectively communicating results to senior leadership. Proven project management skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines. Familiarity with data analytics and emerging audit technologies. Ability to simplify complex ideas for diverse audiences. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail. Self-motivated, capable of working independently and collaboratively. Excellent grasp of data analysis methods. Proficient in Google Suite or MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Preferred Qualifications: Professional Internal Audit or IT security certification (e.g., CISA, CFE) with a solid understanding of internal auditor practices. Knowledge of the crypto and financial services landscape, along with experience in auditing information systems and controls. Experience in a fast-paced organizational environment. A passion for leveraging technology to drive business value. An entrepreneurial mindset capable of adapting to a rapidly evolving startup environment. Experience working with outsourced or co-sourced internal audit teams. Aptitude for collaboration across various functions and time zones. Experience in second-line-of-defense roles such as compliance and risk management. Job #: P75545 Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your location, the target annual salary for this position ranges from $166,345 to $195,700, plus target bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits (including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)). This pay notice outlines the base salary range. Total compensation may also include equity, bonuses, and benefits. Base salary range: $166,345 - $195,700 USD.
