Job Description: Director of Physical Plant Department: Physical Plant Pay Classification: 30 (Min Starting: $80,000) Reports To: Vice President of Administrative Services FLSA Status: Exempt Job Summary: The Director of Physical Plant is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operations of all campus buildings, facilities, utility systems, grounds, college vehicles, and equipment. This role ensures that all physical assets are maintained to meet safety, operational, and aesthetic standards. The Director supervises custodial, grounds, and maintenance staff, coordinates with third-party service providers, and manages special projects and deferred maintenance planning. Minimum RequiredEducation: Associate's degree required, or a combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Minimum Required Experience: At least three years of supervisory experience. Five to seven years of hands-on experience in plumbing, electrical, building, grounds, vehicle, and equipment maintenance and repair. Core Duties and Required Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of facility, grounds, vehicle, and equipment maintenance operations. Familiarity with plumbing, electrical systems, and heavy equipment operation and repair. Understanding of financial data, budgeting, and procurement processes. Knowledge of strategic and tactical planning and implementation. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and standard computing equipment. Knowledge of Hill College's mission and operational standards. Strategic Vision and Program Development: Develops and implements deferred maintenance plans. Oversees energy management systems and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Participates in planning and execution of remodeling and special projects, including bid preparation and contractor coordination. Collaboration: Acts as liaison between the college and third-party custodial and maintenance providers. Coordinates with campus departments and the Vice President of Administrative Services to ensure effective delivery of physical plant services. Assists with event setup and facility scheduling for internal and external groups Demonstrates a commitment to maintaining a welcoming and safe environment that provides a sense of belonging for all. Ability to plan daily operations for efficient use of resources. Other Information: Occasional travel for procurement of supplies and materials. On-call responsibilities for emergency maintenance and weather- related decisions. Security-sensitive position. Physical Requirements: Medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of force greater than that for medium work.
