Your Role: As an Asset Protection Officer, you will take on a vital role in safeguarding our store from losses while ensuring a safe and secure shopping environment for our customers and associates. Key Responsibilities: Educate and mentor associates and management on loss prevention strategies, theft deterrence, and enhancing customer service. Collaborate with Store and Asset Protection Leadership to analyze and combat theft trends, creating targeted action plans and awareness initiatives. Deliver exemplary customer service and ensure all team members have the resources to meet this standard. Ensure the store remains safe, clean, and secure by monitoring entrances, exits, and other high-risk areas. Utilize surveillance, reporting, and exception-based tools to identify theft, fraud, and any policy breaches. Conduct lawful external theft apprehensions and interviews. Investigate incidents of criminal activity, maintain detailed case files, and provide support to law enforcement and during court proceedings. Assist with internal investigations and provide necessary evidence. Assess and validate security measures (locks, gates, alarms) and respond promptly to alarms and emergency system triggers. Provide constructive feedback on audit findings to support efforts in minimizing shrinkage and operational risks. Act decisively and safely in potentially violent situations, prioritizing safety and composure. Be adaptable to take on additional duties based on operational needs. Qualifications: High School Diploma with 1-2 years of relevant experience in areas such as security, retail investigations, or loss prevention. Ability to coach and train others effectively. Physical capability to stand, sit, and perform job duties for extended periods. Able to lift up to 25 pounds independently and more with assistance. Flexibility to work approximately 40 hours per week, with availability for morning, afternoon, and evening shifts on any day. Must acquire a salesperson license if mandated by local laws within 60 days of employment. Completion of a national certified training program (e.g., Wicklander-Zuwalski or Reed training) is preferred. Professional accreditation (e.g., APQ, APC) is a plus. Preferred Skills: Associate degree in Psychology, Criminal Justice, or related field, or equivalent experience. Experience in conducting retail investigations and using physical security systems (CCTV, EAS). Familiarity with investigating organized crime and asset protection cases.
