Requisition ID: 43728BR Business Unit: TSU Job Description: Join CDM Smith's dynamic Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) team as a Senior Roadway and Bridge Construction Inspector. This exciting role involves traveling to project sites across the country, primarily located east of the Mississippi River, to work on significant infrastructure projects that make a real difference. Our Transportation Construction, Engineering, and Inspection group supports a wide range of clients, including federal, public, private, and international organizations. We pride ourselves on providing construction services that align with community needs, utilizing advanced program management, innovative design-build expertise, and sustainable solutions to tackle today's infrastructure challenges. The Senior Roadway and Bridge Construction Inspector will be responsible for inspecting and monitoring construction activities at various project sites. You will perform complex inspections in at least two of the five areas of construction: Roadway, Bridges, Drainage, Erosion & Control, and Maintenance & Traffic. You will work independently or with limited supervision, based on your demonstrated expertise. Primary Responsibilities: Conduct both complex and routine inspections of construction activities to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and standards. Utilize advanced equipment and perform intricate calculations to effectively carry out inspections. Prepare for inspections by thoroughly reviewing construction drawings. Understand the design features of projects under inspection and clearly document and communicate your findings to your supervisor. Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. Certifications from a State Highway Agency or National Entity (e.g. ACI or NICET) in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete, as required. Valid driver's license. 8 years of related experience. Equivalent additional directly related experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree. Willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally as needed. Job Site Location: United States - Nationwide Amount of Travel Required: 20% Assignment Category: Fulltime-Regular Visa Sponsorship Available: No Skills and Abilities: Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Intermediate knowledge of mathematics, including geometry and trigonometry. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Ability to embrace new technologies and rapidly learn related applications. Advanced understanding of highway construction materials and methods. Capability to read and interpret complex construction plans and specifications. Potential to lead and mentor junior inspectors. Pay Range Minimum: $34.68 Pay Range Maximum: $57.23 Additional Compensation: Bonuses are discretionary and may vary based on position. Work Location Options: 100% fieldwork required.
