Job DescriptionJob Title: Engineer - Evolved Packet Core Overview: This role is responsible for the solution design, testing, and delivery of private telecom cloud technologies. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of designing, developing, and implementing LTE core solutions for U.S.-based regional carriers, utilities, or private networks. The position requires mastery of end-to-end solution design, including planning, requirements definition, high-level and low-level design, provisioning, subscriber and SIM management, and network management architecture. The engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop strategies and processes that support evolving network and operational landscapes. Key Responsibilities: Develop and document High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs) for core network components, including completing detailed configuration questionnaires and creating network diagrams. Coordinate configuration changes across infrastructure teams to support network design and implementation. Collaborate with teams in cybersecurity, network engineering, and smart infrastructure to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture strategies and standards. Participate in Architecture Review Board (ARB) discussions to evaluate and approve projects, procedures, and policies. Conduct security vulnerability assessments and provide recommended mitigations or corrective actions. Support the vendor and product selection process for network initiatives. Develop Acceptance Test Plans (ATP), test specifications, and participate in end-to-end solution testing. Provide technical expertise in resolving complex network issues by identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions. Participate in the design and integration of third-party solutions for end-device, SIM, and profile management platforms. Partner with SIM vendors to engineer private and roaming SIM profiles. Collaborate with external partners to enable network sharing through mechanisms such as MOCN, MORAN, or home-routed roaming. Work with IP planning engineers to assign network parameters to core network nodes. Ensure all project-related activities are executed in compliance with regulatory, legal, and policy requirements. Maintain adherence to organizational standards, security policies, and best practices. Skills and Qualifications: Subject matter expertise in 4G and 5G core network technologies, including LTE/EPC, 5G NSA, and 5G SA. Demonstrated experience with cloud computing platforms, virtualization, and software-defined networking. Proficiency in 3GPP interfaces and network protocols. Familiarity with subscriber provisioning solutions (e.g., CAI3G protocol). Proven experience implementing home-routed LTE roaming solutions. Knowledge of Mission-Critical Push-to-Talk (MC-PTT) is preferred. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science required; Master's degree preferred. 10+ years of relevant experience in 4G/5G core network engineering required (15+ years preferred). Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and prioritize tasks.
