Job Summary Role: Low Voltage Technician specializing in large-scale industrial environments like distribution centers. Primary Function: To install, maintain, and troubleshoot low voltage cabling infrastructure for systems such as data networks, security, and audio/visual equipment. Key Activities: Cable pulling (fiber and copper), route preparation (j-hooks, pathways), termination, testing, and system documentation in environments with high ceilings, often requiring lift operation. Key Responsibilities Interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to plan and execute installations. Safely and efficiently pull, route, and dress both copper and fiber optic cables through high-ceiling environments like large distribution centers. Operate aerial lifts, scissor lifts, and other equipment to access high-level cabling pathways. Install cable management hardware such as j-hooks, cable trays, and racks. Terminate cables (e.g., Cat6) and patch them into equipment like switches and patch panels. Perform comprehensive testing on copper and fiber optic installations to ensure performance and troubleshoot any issues. Adhere strictly to job site safety protocols, including OSHA regulations and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Label all cables according to the cable schedule and project specifications. Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment cart. Communicate effectively with project managers, site supervisors, and other team members regarding job status, delays, and requirements. Complete all necessary project documentation and paperwork. Perform preventative maintenance on existing systems as needed. Qualifications and Skills High school diploma or equivalent required. Proven experience as a low voltage technician or similar role, with a focus on structured cabling installations. Specific experience working in large industrial or distribution center environments is preferred. Proficiency in operating aerial and scissor lifts in a safe and responsible manner. Experience with preparing and installing cable support hardware like j-hooks. Familiarity with various types of low voltage cabling, including CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optic. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders. Knowledge of testing and troubleshooting techniques for structured cabling systems. Strong safety consciousness and understanding of relevant safety codes. Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform the physical demands of the job. Good communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Schedule Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.
