Oversee data science workflows and simulation frameworks, ensuring seamless integration of scientific, technical, and business needs. Strategic Planning: Define the structure and strategic goals of the team while establishing workflows that guarantee quality outputs. Drive timely project scheduling and adapt priorities as needed to achieve the best outcomes, ensuring team productivity is maximized. Communication & Influence: Craft clear and engaging documentation for technical and non-technical stakeholders. Foster strong collaborations across various business units and effectively present complex scientific insights to senior leadership. About Our Team: The Central Science Team in Amazon's People Experience and Technology organization employs a mix of economics, behavioral science, statistics, machine learning, and Generative AI. Our goal is to proactively discover methods for enhancing both Amazon's operations and the overall experience for Amazonians, combining science and UX to create impactful solutions. Basic Qualifications: 5+ years in building quantitative solutions as a scientist or in a managerial role. 2+ years of experience managing scientists or machine learning engineers. 5+ years applying statistical models for large-scale applications and constructing automated analytical systems. PhD in computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning, or related quantitative field. Proficiency in Python, R, or other scripting languages. Experience with modern programming languages such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS. Familiarity with databases (NoSQL, SQL Server/MySQL) and software development. Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, Glue, EMR, Kinesis, and Lambda. Expertise in data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in machine learning technologies, including Reinforcement Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, or NLP. Knowledge of big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, or EMR. Experience operating large-scale data warehouses. Demonstrated ability in hiring and managing high-performing technical teams. Our compensation reflects the labor cost across various US geographic markets, with base pay ranging from $142,300 to $272,400 per year, depending on market location and candidate qualifications.
