Where You’ll WorkAt CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy, our focus is patient-centered care. Our level I trauma center and academic medical center campus is designed to heal the body, mind, and spirit of every person in a more comfortable, less stressful hospital environment. Our full range of medical services includes trauma services, heart and vascular care, emergency services, surgery, maternity, cancer care, and diagnostic imaging.Job Summary and ResponsibilitiesAs our Security Officer, you will monitor buildings and grounds on the property to ensure the safety and security of employees, patients, and other visitors. Every day you will monitor the property by walking and driving around the premises. Your security detail could include guarding facility and unit access points, monitoring surveillance cameras, testing new security technology, and protecting all employees/visitors against acts of violence should they arise. To be successful in this role, you’ll need the ability to remain calm and take action based on the situation, known facts, and understand the position limitations. You are also expected to respond to emergency codes in a timely manner. Previous experience in security/patrol in a healthcare setting is preferred. Protecting staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner. Calls may include incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, or to emergency codes, and requests for opening doors. Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle; monitor security alarms and dispatch officers promptly to location(s) where needed; and report unsafe acts or conditions. Knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, and supplies, including of radios and hospital codes. Reports HIPAA breaches if witnessed; investigate security breaches, conducts investigations, and writes incident reports. Ensures that l all activities are logged. That incident reports are accurately completed that they are clear, concise, legible, and submitted in a timely manner. Use appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers while knowing hospital campus to ensure that dispatches are to write location. Keeping the organization’s mission, vision and values at the forefront of all decision making and action. Demonstrates breadth and/or depth of professional/technical skills and capabilities required for position. Interacting with others in a way that gives them confidence in. one’s intentions and those of the organization. Adheres to uniform dress code requirements and employee ID badge is visible at all times. while on duty. Job RequirementsRequired High School Graduate General Studies and less than 1 year Six (6) months experience as security officer in a health care setting, upon hire (Preferred) Driver's License: NE, upon hire and Basic Life Support - CPR, within 90 Days
