About the Job: Join McCarl's Technical Services (MTS) as a Lab Technician and contribute to high-quality mineral processing and materials testing in a dynamic and growth-focused environment. This entry-level position is ideal for detail-oriented individuals eager to learn technical procedures and support laboratory operations. Mineral Processing Laboratory Technician We are seeking a Mineral Processing Laboratory Technician to support bench-scale metallurgical testing in a commercial laboratory environment. The successful candidate will perform sample preparation and metallurgical testing in accordance with established procedures, quality requirements, and safety standards. This role supports testing programs for precious metals, base metals, battery materials, coal, rare earths elements, and secondary materials. Key responsibilities include: Receiving, logging, preparing, and tracking samples in accordance with chain-of-custody and quality procedures Sample preparation including drying, crushing, splitting, and pulverizing Performing comminution testing including crushing, grinding, and particle size analysis Conducting gravity separation testing using shaking tables, centrifugal concentrators, and spirals Performing bench-scale flotation testing including reagent preparation, conditioning, and product collection Performing hydrometallurgical testing including cyanide, acid, alkaline, and salt leaching Preparing, reviewing, and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions Accurately documenting test conditions, observations, and results using laboratory notebooks, Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets, and Microsoft Word / Google Docs for day-to-day data recording and reporting Performing routine inspection, maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment Handling hazardous chemicals and materials using appropriate engineering controls and required PPE Maintaining laboratory housekeeping and compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental requirements Materials tested may include gold, silver, platinum group metals (PGM), copper, nickel, cobalt, iron ore, rare earth elements, lithium-bearing materials, coal, and metallic waste streams. Qualifications: Associate or Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Mining, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent laboratory experience Prior experience in a commercial metallurgical or mineral processing laboratory preferred Familiarity with quality systems and laboratory documentation practices is an asset Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets and Microsoft Word or Google Docs for routine data entry, calculations, and documentation Ability to follow written procedures and work safely in a regulated laboratory environment Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a team-oriented setting Work environment and physical requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks Comfortable working around loud, rotating, and wet processing equipment Ability to safely handle hazardous substances using engineering controls and required PPE, including hearing and respiratory protection as needed This is a full time position Salary Range:: $20-$24/hour
