Position Summary Join our dynamic team as a CNC Programming Specialist where your skills in laser cutting, sheet metal fabrication, and CNC press brake operations will shine. This is a critical technical role where you will focus on programming, optimizing manufacturing processes, and offering essential technical support for quoting and estimation. Collaborate closely with shop-floor operators, engineering teams, and estimating departments to ensure accurate part programming while creating realistic quotes concerning feeds, speeds, tooling, and cycle times. Your work will significantly impact productivity, quality, cost accuracy, and overall machine efficiency in our operations. Key Responsibilities Programming & Process Development: Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for laser cutting systems, turret punch presses, and press brakes. Develop effective nesting strategies to maximize material efficiency and minimize scrap. Select the appropriate tooling, cutting parameters, bending sequences, and fixturing methods. Ensure programs are safe, accurate, and manufacturable before production release. Maintain a well-organized program library and manage revision control effectively. Quoting & Estimating Support: Enhance the quoting process with insights on: Accurate feeds and speeds Cycle time estimates Tooling recommendations Setup assumptions Manufacturability feedback Review customer prints and models to identify production risks and opportunities for efficiency prior to finalizing quotes. Collaborate with estimating and engineering teams to boost the accuracy and profitability of quotes. Suggest design-for-manufacturing improvements whenever applicable. Production Support & Troubleshooting: Provide technical assistance to machine operators during setups and production runs. Diagnose challenges related to part quality, tooling, programming errors, and material behavior. Identify opportunities for cycle time reductions and process improvements. Collaboration & Documentation: Work closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to interpret drawings, tolerances, and specifications accurately. Ensure compliance of programs with print requirements and customer quality standards. Support continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices. Required Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years experience programming CNC machines, specifically laser, punch, and press brakes. Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes. Proficient in GD&T and blueprint reading. Knowledgeable in tooling selection and bending allowances. Experience with CAD/CAM software like Autodesk, TruTops Boost, Amada, Solid Works, SigmaNEST, Mastercam, or similar tools. Effective troubleshooting skills for mechanical, programming, and process-related challenges. Excellent communication skills for collaboration with both shop personnel and office staff. Detail-oriented with robust organizational abilities. Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting quoting, estimating, or costing in a fabrication environment. Familiarity with laser parameters, punch tooling libraries, and offline programming for press brakes. Leadership or mentoring experience with operators or junior programmers. Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies. Experience with Lincoln Robotic welders (System 30 and System 10). Understanding of spot welding and riveting processes. Work Environment: Primarily office-based with regular interactions on the production floor. Manufacturing setting includes exposure to noise, machinery, and handling materials.
