Primary Care PhysicianOverview Executive Search Associates is seeking a committed Primary Care Physician to serve Redfield Clinic and Community Memorial Hospital, a critical access hospital caring for patients of all ages. Physicians here build deep, long-term relationships with their patients and community, with many choosing to live and practice in Redfield for decades. This role is ideal for a physician who values continuity of care, autonomy, and rural medicine, working alongside a collaborative medical staff and a highly experienced clinic nursing team. Description The Primary Care Physician will provide comprehensive outpatient care in the clinic while participating in a shared rotation for ER backup coverage (historically ~one night per week), as well as inpatient rounding and nursing home care. The role is primarily clinical, with limited administrative time for medical staff meetings, trauma registry participation, and committee responsibilities-including rotation through the medical director role. Typical days include scheduled clinic visits, acute visits, collaboration with APPs, and occasional movement between the clinic and ER during backup call. Responsibilities Provide full-scope primary care in the clinic, including routine physicals, minor procedures, chronic disease management, and acute care visits. Support ER backup coverage during assigned call periods, collaborating with mid-levels and assisting with emergent cases. Round on inpatients in the hospital when applicable. Participate in shared nursing home patient coverage for assigned panel patients. Maintain the clinic schedule and deliver patient care consistent with organizational quality and safety standards. Teach patients self-care and safe treatment practices as appropriate. Comply with Medical Staff Bylaws, rules, and professional standards. Participate in: State trauma registry activities Medical staff meetings and essential committees Annual rotation as medical director (sign-off and APP oversight functions) Collaborate effectively with clinic and hospital staff and maintain professional communication across departments. Requirements Completion of an accredited medical program and eligibility for an unrestricted medical license in South Dakota. MD or DO (primary care discipline preferred). Experience or strong comfort level working in emergency care/ER backup environments, including triage and stabilization prior to transfer when necessary. Willingness to participate in: Call rotation ER backup Inpatient rounding Nursing home coverage Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with patients, colleagues, and community members. Ability to thrive in a small, relational, rural community environment and contribute positively to team culture. Experience with Meditech Expanse or Epic (or willingness to train during transition) is welcomed.
