Grocery/ Refrigeration Manager - Dana Point

Description The Grocery/Refrigeration Manager at Mother's Market is responsible for overseeing all refrigerated, frozen and dry grocery sections to ensure optimal product quality, food safety, inventory accuracy, and exceptional guest experience. This role focuses on hands-on leadership, merchandising excellence, and a passion for natural and organic products consistent with Mother's Market's values. Wage Range: $22-$30/hour Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, & in-store discounts Key Responsibilities Operations & Food Safety Ensure all refrigerated and frozen cases operate within required temperature and food safety standards. Monitor, document, and maintain compliance with local, state, and company food safety regulations. Respond promptly to refrigeration issues and coordinate with maintenance and service vendors as needed. Conduct regular inspections of equipment, product integrity, and cleanliness. Merchandising & Inventory Oversee ordering, stocking, rotation, and presentation of refrigerated and frozen grocery products. Maintain accurate inventory levels, minimize shrink, and manage spoilage and product loss. Ensure proper signage, pricing accuracy, and attractive merchandising aligned with Mother's Market standards. Support seasonal resets, promotions, and new product launches. Leadership & Team Development Train, coach, and supervise team members assigned to refrigeration and frozen sections. Schedule staff appropriately to meet business needs while controlling labor costs. Foster a positive, respectful, and service-driven work environment. Lead by example with strong work ethic, professionalism, and customer engagement. Customer Experience Deliver outstanding customer service by assisting guests with product questions, dietary needs, and recommendations. Address customer concerns related to product quality, availability, or temperature issues promptly and professionally. Promote Mother's Market's commitment to health, wellness, and sustainability. Administrative & Reporting Complete required logs, temperature records, audits, and operational reports accurately and on time. Collaborate with store leadership on sales goals, shrink reduction, and operational improvements. Qualifications Required 2+ years of experience in grocery, refrigeration, or food retail management. Strong knowledge of refrigerated and frozen food handling and food safety standards. Proven leadership and team-management experience. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in cold environments for extended periods. Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays. Preferred Experience in natural, organic, or specialty grocery retail. Passion for health, wellness, and sustainable food practices.
