Construction Cost Estimator

RK&K's Project Controls and Construction Management Division is seeking a talented Construction Estimator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be key in developing accurate construction cost estimates for a diverse range of small to large construction projects across various stages of the project lifecycle. Essential Functions Thoroughly review construction documents to understand the scope of work for each bid. Perform detailed take-offs from construction documents with precision. Input take-offs into an organized computer spreadsheet or leading estimating program. Research and obtain competitive pricing for materials. Solicit and assess bids from subcontractors to ensure the best value. Compile and analyze costs associated with materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead. Provide estimations when no predetermined standard is available. Communicate any inaccuracies or omissions discovered in quoted items or databases to your supervisor promptly. Develop and maintain comprehensive resource information on products, vendors, and regulatory requirements. Undertake additional tasks as assigned to support project goals. Required Skills and Experience Bachelor's degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field, or at least five (5) years of relevant experience in heavy civil or highway construction projects. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and self-motivation. Preferred Skills and Experience Familiarity with contractor bid software such as Bid2Win or HeavyBid is advantageous.
