Lead Platform Engineer

Your Role The Developer and Employee Experience team is dedicated to establishing standards and automation pipelines that empower our IT partners to effectively build, release, and manage their systems. We are paving the way for a seamless migration to the Cloud while championing a modern, Agentic AI-driven DevOps operating model. As the Lead Platform Engineer, reporting to the Vice President of Developer & Employee Experience, you will spearhead the development and maintenance of enterprise-level technology capabilities and patterns essential for our Cloud transition. You will define integrated roadmaps that strategically align with our organization's initiatives at Blue Shield of California. Your Knowledge and Experience A degree or equivalent experience is required. At least 12 years of extensive experience in business and IT, with a broad range of cloud services across Azure, GCP, or AWS. A minimum of 5 years of experience in architectural practices. An expert architect who actively promotes and advances the architecture operating model, governance, processes, policies, and frameworks for Enterprise Architecture. Skilled in creating, refining, and implementing repeatable architecture frameworks and processes to facilitate complex cross-functional initiatives tied to significant business objectives. Ability to provide vision and strategic direction for multiple architecture domains, including business, information, application, and technology. Expertise in developing and executing strategies and solutions in collaboration with executive leadership across both business and IT sectors. Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively communicate the value of a robust enterprise architecture function to key business stakeholders. Advanced knowledge in cloud technologies, specializing in creating technology standards and implementation roadmaps for Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or Amazon Web Services. Comprehensive understanding of AI, Agentic AI, and large language models (LLMs). Proven proficiency in cloud life cycle methodologies. Competence in at least one programming language, such as Python, C#, or Java. In-depth expertise in multiple cloud hosting providers, particularly Microsoft Azure and AWS. Experience with Kubernetes is highly desirable.
