Optical Transport Network Engineer We are seeking a talented Optical Transport Network Engineer to support innovative network solutions. This position requires collaboration with various internal and external teams, and you will be responsible for managing and implementing IP network solutions from start to finish. Your role will involve developing network designs, creating network diagrams using Visio, configuring network equipment, and thorough documentation of all project requirements. Essential Functions: Collaborate with IXC Deployment Team, IXC Engineering, and Telco circuit design engineers to document circuit designs on Optical networks. Ensure accurate recording of Carrier HUBs and circuits within design and operations toolsets and validate that network POP design documentation matches as-built configurations. Document any design deviations and submit ClearQuest PTRs to capture necessary design changes or corrections. Support planned maintenance events and direct installation and activation activities for SONET and ancillary equipment. Work with Telco Carrier and field technicians to troubleshoot and resolve activation issues with new circuits. Adhere to MetaSolv/DICE workflows and update IXC circuit databases as installations and changes occur. Provision Optical IXC circuits using Cisco Prime Optical or Cisco Transport Controller and configure ancillary equipment for various circuit configurations. Verify that circuits are provisioned according to the design documentation and resolve discrepancies prior to customer release. Interface with internal and external customers to provide technical assistance during service activation and circuit testing. Monitor optical network alarms and investigate root causes of issues to minimize disruptions. Provide process improvement recommendations and assist in maintaining controlled documentation. Support maintenance events both during regular hours and after hours/weekends as required. Assist in data collection for network issue analysis and execute test procedures while providing feedback. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 4 years of related experience or a Graduate Degree with 2 years of experience. Alternatively, 8 years of related experience without a degree. Preferred experience of 3 or more years with SONET equipment and Optical Circuits, particularly with Cisco ONS-15310, ONS-15454, and Fujitsu Flashwave platforms. Ability to obtain a security clearance. Preferred Additional Skills: Understanding of NAS Operations ticket management and scheduled maintenance processes. Strong technical knowledge of various circuit types including Gigabit Ethernet, DS1/T1, DS3, STS1, and OC3-OC192. Understanding of trouble tickets, ticket management, and Change Management processes. Experience with Cisco Prime Optical, Cisco Transport Controller, and Fujitsu NetSmart. Familiarity with MetaSolv and DICE is preferred. MEF-CECP certification is a plus. Resources will be required to work on client's site in Melbourne, FL. Non-local candidates will be compensated accordingly for this long-term assignment.
