Position Summary At Montefino, our Respiratory Care Practitioners (also known as Respiratory Therapists) play a vital role in providing exceptional direct medical care. With smaller patient caseloads, you will have the opportunity to work closely with individual patients, fostering meaningful relationships and contributing positively to their daily lives. Our RTs collaborate with patients, their families, and the healthcare team to promote well-being and enhance patient outcomes. Montefino RTs implement established standards and procedures, offering supervision, care, and support to individuals with Developmental Disabilities. You will be instrumental in assisting patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) while ensuring a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment that respects their dignity and rights. We seek organized, analytical, and diligent individuals with strong communication skills who are eager to advocate for their patients and continuously expand their knowledge base. Essential Duties Set up and operate devices such as mechanical ventilators and aerosol generators according to prescribed treatment parameters. Provide emergency care, including artificial respiration and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Evaluate treatment requirements and collaborate with physicians to determine therapy methods and precautions. Monitor patient responses to therapy and communicate any adverse reactions to physicians. Document vital signs and assess patient conditions based on prescription and clinical data. Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to manage patient care effectively. Enforce safety protocols and maintain detailed patient charts. Inspect and maintain respiratory therapy equipment to ensure safe functionality. Educate patients and their families on disease management techniques and respiratory equipment usage. Perform bronchopulmonary drainage and guide patients in breathing exercises. Support skills-building activities and develop individual treatment plans for residents. Engage residents in daily living activities, including personal hygiene and meal preparation. Ensure appropriate staff-to-client ratios and update resident case notes regularly. Undertake additional duties and special projects as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. Valid Respiratory License/Credentials from an accredited body is essential. Preferred credentials include RRT, CRT, CA Respiratory Care Practitioner License. 1+ years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist or similar role preferred. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Service-oriented mindset with a genuine passion for providing care. Knowledge of respiratory care practices and relevant laws and regulations. Commitment to ongoing education and professional development. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Able to follow precise treatment instructions and comprehend technical documentation. Strong interpersonal skills, active listening, and empathy in patient interactions. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with accuracy. Proficient in standard office applications and quick to learn new software. Open to feedback and able to respond positively to constructive criticism. Shift availability, including weekends and holidays, with potential for overtime. Successful completion of a live scan background check is required. Additional Details COVID-19 Precautions: PPE provided; Temperature screenings and sanitation protocols in place. Location: This role is onsite at care facilities in Mission Viejo. RTs may also be assigned to other facilities in the vicinity. Employment Type: Per Diem Non-Exempt/Hourly positions available for AM & NOC shifts! Compensation: $33.00 to $40.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
