Job Description

Join the courageous and dedicated team at the Secret Service. As a Federal Protective Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and security of key government figures and locations. Position Overview: In this critical role, you will provide protection for: The White House Complex The Vice President's Residence The Main Treasury Building and Annex Foreign diplomatic missions and embassies within the Washington, D.C. area Your duties will also include: Traveling to support missions for the President, Vice President, and foreign heads of state/government. Enforcing protective responsibilities mandated under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A. Recruitment Incentive: Eligible applicants may receive a $50,000 recruitment incentive in accordance with regulatory requirements. Increase your chances of an interview by understanding the responsibilities of this role thoroughly before applying. Requirements: U.S. citizenship is required. Must possess a current, valid U.S. driver's license. Applicants must be at least 21 years old at the time of application and under 40 years old at referral, with exceptions for current or prior federal law enforcement personnel covered by special retirement provisions. Ability to carry and proficiently use a firearm; maintaining firearm proficiency is mandatory. Uncorrected visual acuity should be no worse than 20/100 binocular; corrected visual acuity must be 20/20 or better in each eye. Hearing loss should not exceed 25 decibels in either ear across specified frequency ranges. Ability to hear a whispered voice from 15 feet away without a hearing aid. Submission to a drug test prior to appointment and random testing while in position. Completion of 12 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center. Certification of registration with the Selective Service System or exemption if applicable (for male applicants born after December 31, 1959).
