Primary Role: The Director of Curriculum & Instruction, 5-8 is a critical instructional leader responsible for ensuring every teacher has access to, and training in, the use of high quality instructional materials and assessment systems across all content areas for grades 5-8 at Vista College Prep. This role reports to the Director of Schools. Key Responsibilities Oversee 5-8 Curriculum Lead the development and refinement of network-wide curriculum and instructional resources across content areas, including: Ensuring that every grade and subject have high quality instructional materials Creation of supplemental instructional resources to support implementation and meeting students where they are Ongoing maintenance of curriculum scope and sequence, instructional resources, and pedagogical tools Research, propose and implement programmatic adjustments to core curricula and interventions Collaborate with intervention teachers and Special Education teams to close achievement gaps and ensure access to grade-level instruction. Manage 5-8 Assessments Design, revise, or refine assessments to ensure that every grade and subject has a series of assessments that are valid, reliable, error free, and predictive of AASA performance Ongoing maintenance of assessment systems in Illuminate and any other testing platforms Ensuring assessment guidance is accurate and aligned to relevant expectations Leverage data systems and instructional walkthroughs to strengthen and refine network wide instruction and pedagogy Monitor student performance data across content areas to identify trends and adjust curricular resources, materials, or instructional vision. Contribute to network-wide instructional strategy through data analysis and sharing of effective practices and bright spots. Lead instructional walkthroughs to align on where instructional implementation does and does not meet the bar, and make recommendations for adjustments to school leaders and/or director of schools. Lead exemplary Professional Development Lead 5-8 professional development sessions across the network aligned to instructional priorities as needed. Partner with campus leadership to provide targeted professional development focused on instructional rigor, effective pedagogy, and elementary learner needs. Support leadership teams and teachers in delivering rigorous, standards-aligned instruction across subjects that builds conceptual understanding and academic readiness through walkthroughs, targeted PDs, or resource creation.
