Job Summary The MEP Superintendent oversees and coordinates mechanical and electrical work on construction projects. This role ensures safety, quality, schedule adherence, and budget compliance. The MEP superintendent supervises Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, interns, and trade labor within their area of responsibility and collaborates with project teams to successfully complete projects. Job Responsibilities Manage scheduling, logistics, staffing, and quality control for mechanical and electrical work. Coordinate activities among multiple trades to ensure safe and efficient project operations. Resolve on-site issues related to procedures, labor, equipment, design clarifications, and schedules. Oversee site safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards. Supervise, mentor, and develop Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and interns, including participation in performance evaluations. Ensure adherence to professional ethics and compliance standards at all times. Develop project schedules, plan sequencing of work, and implement strategies to maintain progress and budget goals. Communicate with project stakeholders, including architects, engineers, and owners, to address and resolve field issues. Manage billing and documentation, including progress tracking, payroll, material invoices, and subcontractor payments. Ensure all work meets contract documents, specifications, and quality standards. Collaborate with engineering teams on coordination of mechanical and electrical systems using drawings and 3D models. Lead inspections, system startup, commissioning, turnover, training, and punchlist activities. Monitor subcontractors and suppliers to ensure work complies with plans, specifications, and safety standards. Maintain accurate daily records of trade work progress. Participate in preconstruction planning, including constructability reviews and logistics coordination. Job Requirements Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in engineering, architecture, or construction. Minimum of six years of experience in mechanical, electrical, or plumbing construction. Knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, cost control, contracts, and project specifications. Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and their coordination. Experience using building information modeling (BIM) for project coordination. Proficient in written and verbal communication; comfortable using Microsoft Office applications. Ability to interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, and project schedules. Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills. Physical Demands Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and access elevated work areas. Visual requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to use hands, sit, stand, talk, hear, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Work Environment Regularly works on construction sites with exposure to moving equipment, heights, airborne particles, outdoor weather, and electrical hazards.
