DescriptionPay: $15/hr. Summer Camp Date: June 15th- August 17th POSITION SUMMARY The Summer Camp Coordinator is responsible for facilitating programming for children while conducting educational, cultural, and recreational activities for children grades K-8th as well as supervising part-time staff. The Summer Camp Coordinator solves practical problems, sets goals and makes plans to achieve them, develops strong relationships with others, handles undesired behavior and conflicts in positive ways, models positive behavior and values, leads games and activities, presents in front of large and small groups, and earns respect from others. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Greensboro is responsible for carrying out our promise to strengthen the foundations of community with focus on Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility while upholding our values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. To supervise all on-site group leaders and delegate responsibilities to the appropriately. To supervise and interact appropriately with all children in the program according to the prescribed YMCA standards, maintaining appropriate disciplinary standards. To organize, implement and participate in all scheduled activities. To complete all required documentation for the program, including attendance records. To interact appropriately with all parents of the program participants. To help with housekeeping tasks as necessary. To ensure that adequate supplies are on hand for a successful program. To provide daily front-line oversight of program activities, monitoring staff, and delivering immediate feedback regarding staff and participant behavior as needed. Plan & implement weekly themes, activities, and games. Plan & implement assembly games and activities. Plan & implement staff schedules. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises the part-time Youth Development Leaders in the Summer Camp Program in the assigned branch. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Minimum of 2 years working in childcare, youth sports, or camp environment as well as customer services experience. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of clients, members, and the general public. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement. Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Ability effectively use the Microsoft Office Suite of software. Ability to bring a boisterous group under control and maintain appropriate control for effective communication and management of group activities. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud. CPR/AED, First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogen training required upon hire.
