Water Distribution Intern Position Title: Water Distribution Intern Department: Utilities Reports To: Line Maintenance Superintendent Salary Range: N/A Temporary Position (no benefits) FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Last Update: April 7, 2025 Job Summary: The Water Distribution Intern performs semi-skilled work in a wide variety of water maintenance, asset managements and construction tasks. Job Scope: Duties and responsibilities are designed to further prepare the incumbent for a successful career in Water / Wastewater Operations. Employee does not have supervisory responsibility for subordinate personnel. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist with new water main service taps for residential and commercial. Assist in the repair of water main breaks and water service leaks. Assist with mainline valve exercising program. Assist with fire hydrant maintenance program. Assist with Asset management collection and tracking. Weed eat and or mow around fire hydrants and manholes. Paints and maintains fire hydrants. Vehicle, tools and equipment cleaning. Assist with sewer main cleaning and camera inspections. Ability to perform physical labor in varied climates. Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisors, other employees and the general public. Education, Certification and Experience Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required. Requires possession of a valid driver's license and good driving record. Tools and Equipment Used: Automobiles, pick-up trucks, self-propelled tractor-mowers, pumps, motors, lifting equipment, hand tools, and personal computers. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of the position, the employee must be capable to negotiate rough terrain on foot to access maintenance problems; must be capable of occasionally lifting fifty to one-hundred pounds (50-100 lbs.) during execution of duties. The position requires mobility to complete errands, flexibility of body, manual dexterity, and hand/eye coordination.
