Legal Secretary The Legal Secretary is primarily responsible for scheduling appointments, typing attorney pleadings and correspondence, scheduling court appearances, checking service of complaint, and must have the ability to juggle priorities. Leadership Responsibilities: Demonstrates personal accountability Contributes towards the success of others Upholds the Firm's Core Values: We Care, Humble Excellence, Collaborative Attitude, Challenge Acceptance No direct supervision responsibilities Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Balance multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously Electronically file documents Perform research as directed Perform general secretary duties (dictation, correspondence, handling of mail) May set up new client claims with the insurance company, prepare guardianship paperwork, and schedule legal appointments as directed by the attorney Proofreading and make grammatical and spelling corrections on legal forms Schedule attorney's client calls May back up clerical support for Administrative Clerk In some offices, assume duties of Front Desk Coordinator in his/her absence Organize and complete welcome event for new employees Prepare correspondence in support of the work of Legal Assistants Required Skills/Abilities: Proficient in Microsoft Office Products as applicable Ability to communicate effectively in English orally and in writing Highly organized with excellent follow up skills Ability to professionally multitask and meet multiple deadlines simultaneously Respectful, confidential, and provides a trustworthy source for clients, vendors, and coworkers Reliable and dependable in performing job-related tasks, finishing assigned projects, meeting deadlines and appointments Strong attention to detail and accuracy Self-motivated and driven to begin and complete tasks Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent education/experience preferred One (1) year of clerical office experience supporting a litigation team Physical Demands, Work Environment, and Other Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times The above statements describe the general nature and level of work performed by team members assigned to this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
