CDL A Driver

Local CDL Class A Driver We are a well-established scrap metal recycling company serving the St. Louis Metropolitan area. We are currently seeking a Local CDL Class A Driver to join our union workforce. The CDL Class A Driver will be responsible for safely transporting scrap metal using company-owned trucks within the local area. This is a union position that offers stable work, full benefits, and a strong emphasis on safety and compliance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Operate a Class A vehicle (van, open-top, roll-off, flatbed, or dump trailer) to transport scrap metal between customer sites, scrap yards, and processing facilities. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and report maintenance issues promptly. Load and unload containers or trailers as required; assist with securing loads to ensure safety and compliance. Maintain accurate logs and delivery paperwork in accordance with DOT and company standards. Follow all safety procedures and environmental regulations. Communicate with dispatch and customers in a professional and timely manner. Comply with union work rules, schedules, and job assignments. Specifications: Proven work experience as a truck driver Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS) Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.) Willing to submit to background/drug checks Valid truck driving license CDL Class A Requirements: Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record. Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience (preferably in the scrap or waste industry). Experience with roll-off trucks, dump trailers, or flatbeds is highly preferred. Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen. Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and local traffic laws. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor environments.
