Natural Gas Pipeline Scheduler Primary purpose: Manage pipeline nominations, volumetric balances, and other related activities on natural gas pipelines. Must be a highly motivated individual with a desire to contribute knowledge, ideas, and continued learning. Responsibilities Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Scheduling Process Developing proficiencies in all aspects of the scheduling process for natural gas pipelines including nominations, scheduling, trade confirmations, and allocations: Accurately complete cycle nominations in an efficient and timely manner. Develop working relationships with counterparties that include an understanding of their business objectives. Perform as a strategic liaison in helping develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers, pipelines, utilities, and suppliers Understand contractual rights and types of services as defined by the tariffs and apply those concepts to the scheduling process. Ensure positions are accurately recorded in trade management systems Recognize improvement areas within the pipeline management transaction system to better support customers and internal users Understand operational impacts and prepare and predict scheduling processes that will be impacted Customer Service Contact Assist customers with all aspects of the scheduling process: Identify customer errors and assist with corrections appropriately. Respond timely and accurately to customer inquiries concerning scheduling issues and pipeline operations while observing tariff, FERC policy and business code of conduct requirements. Monitor contractual imbalances and communicate such with customers. Train customers in most functions of the scheduling system (currently CONNECT). Develop working relationships with customers, which includes an understanding of their business objectives. Review and monitor point flows and Operational Balancing Agreements for accuracy and reconcile differences with customers. Understand contractual rights and types of services as defined by the tariffs and apply those concepts to the Scheduling process. Team Support: Willing and able to train new schedulers, assist others and contribute to the ongoing development of the team. Effective team member who maintains a positive attitude on a consistent basis, promotes a positive attitude within the group, and shows interest and initiative in taking on additional tasks. General Duties: Successfully perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines efficiently and accurately. Must show initiative and the ability to progress in knowledge and capability for all scheduling functions. Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism. Other daily, weekly, monthly, or special project duties as assigned. Complete end-of-the-month closing responsibilities Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone. Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and adhere to procedures for time off. Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, or three years of equivalent experience. Experience/Specific Knowledge: Three plus years of Natural Gas scheduling experience. Understanding of the natural gas pipeline industry's scheduling processes. Understanding of the commercial aspects of the natural gas industry, with a comprehensive understanding of the commercial aspects of Tallgrass' business. Certifications, Licenses & Registrations: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel). Competencies, Skills & Abilities: Take direction from management, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules. Organize and prioritize daily work. Strong analytical skills. Excellent communication skills. Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications that include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook. Be flexible and respond effectively to changing schedules, priorities, and other urgent situations. Grasp and execute Gas Scheduling responsibilities. High level of concentration. Remain focused and exercise good judgment under highly stressful situations. Skills in problem recognition, troubleshooting, and resolution capability for customer issues and the scheduling system Analyze, evaluate and understand all impacts of potential solutions to limitations, being able to provide multiple alternatives with sound recommendations. Understanding of market dynamics and physical system operations and the impacts on scheduling. Understanding of all aspects of tariffs, and counterparty contracts. Knowledge of the allocations processes and willingness to support these processes upon request. Working Conditions: Required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours. Required availability (currently Day, Evening, Weekend, including Holidays) to provide gas scheduling coverage 7 days per week, 365 days per year. Shift assignment will rotate based on group need. Required to work On-Call duty and non-traditional hours as needed. The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including a credit report for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed. Supervisory Responsibility: None, although this position should result in the development of the skills necessary to move into a supervisory role. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position: Commercial experience Pipeline operations and procedure experience. Proficient in other interstate pipelines' services, operations and scheduling processes. Working relationships with external scheduling personnel and customers, with an understanding of the business needs of both and the ability to extract value from those relationships. Working knowledge of NAESB Standards and Guidelines as it relates to Nominations, Scheduling & Confirmations. Compensation: The annual salary range for this position will be $70,000-$110,000/yr.
