Security Safeguard Under the direction of the Port & Operations Manager, the Security Safeguard is responsible for the security and safeguard for crews in the assigned Port Offices. Position is contract only, part-time, flexible hours. Responsibilities: Must be able to be on call to provide security and safeguard for crews in assigned Port Offices Abide by all federal, state, and local laws, including all transport rules, guidelines, and safety regulations Makes required trips to terminals, airports, hotels, United States Immigration Control, and U.S. Customs Office to ensure all necessary documentation is ready for arrivals and departures Not all aspects of the job are covered by the descriptions, other duties may be required at the discretion of Port Operations Manager or other member of management team Position may change as the industry and technology evolve Requirements: MUST have a valid State of Florida Class D Security License Valid drivers license with an acceptable / clean motor vehicle record Previous Security exp. required Previous experience in the marine agency field helpful but not required Able to travel between sites as needed Verifiable excellent customer services abilities Strong communication skills, with groups and in individual interactions to solve problems Must be able to lift 50 pounds Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) required and / or be able to obtain one within 30 days of hire Port Card highly preferred Must have reliable transportation Must be able to provide and maintain automobile insurance according to state laws Must be available to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including days, nights, weekends, and some holidays with travel to and from the marine vessel while in Port. Working Conditions: Works outside in conditions of both hot and cold temperatures as well as inside in an office environment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom, to climb ladders and to lift and carry 50-75 lbs. Exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially hazardous equipment. Ability to board vessels in rough weather and sea conditions. Long hours, ability to travel, weekend duties and 24-hour "on-call" status are essential job requirements. Must comply with all work rules, including those that pertain to safety and health. Job involves frequent and extensive walking, lifting, climbing, stooping, bending, and jumping. Frequent walking and standing Frequent climbing (gangway) up to heights of six feet or more Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions Frequent and proper lifting of up to 50 pounds. Incumbent will be required to make numerous trips to the marine vessel during its time in port to handle any issues relevant to the efficient arrival and departure of the vessel. Ability to work flexible, full-time schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
