Job Description

Join one of Floridas leading heavy civil construction firms that self-performs mass excavation for heavy highway, roadway, and public works projects. As a Project Manager, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of DOT and public infrastructure projects, working with a well-established contractor known for progressive leadership, strong operational support, and a culture that values long-term career growth. Employee Compensation & Benefits: Base Salary $160K$180K DOE + 20% Bonus +/- Medical/Dental/Vision Benefits Company vehicle or vehicle allowance Paid vacation - Flex Schedule, sick time, and holidays Relocation assistance negotiable Essential Duties: Manage all phases of heavy highway and DOT construction projects from preconstruction through closeout Oversee project budgets, schedules, and cost controls to ensure profitability and timely delivery Coordinate with owners, DOT representatives, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal field operations Review and understand project plans, specifications, contracts, and change orders Lead project kickoff meetings and maintain clear communication with all stakeholders Develop and manage CPM schedules and short-term work plans Ensure compliance with DOT standards, safety regulations, and quality control requirements Track project progress, quantities, and production rates Manage subcontractor procurement, buyouts, and performance Review and approve pay applications, change orders, and project cost reports Support and collaborate with superintendents to resolve field issues Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting Foster strong client relationships to support repeat business Perform other duties as assigned Required Experience/Skills/Qualifications: 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager in heavy civil or heavy highway construction Direct experience managing DOT-funded transportation projects is required Strong understanding of roadway construction, earthwork, drainage, utilities, MOT, and traffic control Experience working with state DOTs and/or municipalities Proficiency with construction management software such as HCSS, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contracts Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience) Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
