Job Summary: Johnson & Johnson is a leader in healthcare innovation, dedicated to improving health outcomes through advanced medical technologies. They are seeking a Software Engineering Co-op for the Fall 2026 term to design and develop software for medical devices, contributing to the integration of complex systems and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Responsibilities: • Design and develop product software to integrate with mechanical, electrical, and distributed computing systems. • Develop test tools to test product software in an integrated environment. • Convert chosen technical options into formal testable written requirements Document designs and specifications per design control processes. • Conform to Industry Standards for Medical Device Software (IEC 62304). • You will have the opportunity to use state of the art tools and take advantage of training courses offered on-site and virtually. • Responsibilities will increase with each rotation as you learn more by returning to school. Qualifications: Required: • Be enrolled in an accredited college/institution pursuing a Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or related degree is required. • Must have completed a minimum of two semesters in school prior to the beginning of the co-op term (class standing of a sophomore or above). • Considered a student during the co-op term, must not have a graduation date prior to the start of the co-op term. • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0. • Experience in a direct software engineering utilizing C, C++, and Python. • Strong collaboration, proven technical leadership capabilities, and conflict resolution skills. • Demonstrate strong interest in healthcare. • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for the full duration of the co-op term. • Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship. Preferred: • Experience working with software design in Linux or similar operating system. • Experience working with software testing tools (e.g. Google Test, NUnit, JUnit, etc.). • Experience working with Distributed Data Services (DDS), e.g. (RTI Connext, OpenDDS, MQTT, or similar distributed data sharing libraries.
