Buyer Assist the Supply Chain Manager in establishing a foundation in purchasing raw materials (new or existing) by sourcing suppliers, working in conjunction with engineers for new material and/or supplier opportunities, and determining if suppliers can handle required volume, requirements, and meeting pricing needs. Assist the Supply Chain Manager in establishing and reporting performance metrics for the Supply Chain department. Create and send purchase orders to vendors as necessary. Confirm purchase orders will arrive on time for production, follow up with vendors for all shipping details, and track shipments until the material is delivered. Identify problematic items/shortages and seek out solutions to ensure production is uninterrupted. Negotiate with vendors, building positive, long-term relationships, researching new suppliers, and making recommendations to the Purchasing Manager. Compile reports on product performance and statistics. Ensure raw material forecasts align with production requirements and analyze raw material inventory and consumption to ensure that levels properly support current and future production requirements. Reconcile physical counts; research discrepancies and report variances in cycle counts to management. Manage consumable and vendor managed inventory (VMI) and recommend and/or submits purchase order requests to reorder inventory based on current production rates. Engage in continuous improvement training, including pursuit of a Lean or Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher), and apply learned methodologies to drive efficiency, quality, and cost improvements within purchasing and supplier management. Serve as a role model for coworkers and remain actively involved in developing the Formaspace culture. Participate in culture crew events and activities associated with building our culture. Perform special projects as assigned.
