Job Description

Office Specialist The office assistant is responsible for routine clerical matters and assuring that documents flow in a coordinated and efficient manner. Duties and responsibilities include: Providing assistance to the Executive Director/Administrator, preserving the confidential nature of items of which he/she has knowledge. Maintaining the files, supplies, postage and general office conditions in an orderly manner. Handling all correspondence and word processing for the home health organization. Maintaining minutes of meetings. Answering telephone inquiries and channeling them appropriately. Filing clinical notes after recording on the weekly ledger sheet. As necessary, sending physician orders for signature. Keeping current log of what is sent and tracking receipt of signed document. Closing patient's clinical record when discharged. Maintaining current patient statistics utilizing the Management Information System. Maintaining ledger cards for all new patients admitted for clerk's use. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director/Administrator. Job requirements (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities) include: Minimum of two years' experience preferably in home health or health care, or graduation from a one- or two-year business college preferred. Is at least eighteen years of age. Able to type 50 words per minute. Word processing skills. Personal computer skills. Business machine knowledge. Medical terminology.
