Sort Coordinator Reporting to the Sort Manager, the Sort Coordinator has the overall responsibility of loading/unloading food product, leading a large group of volunteers as they prepare product for distribution to our partner agencies within our 21 county service area, operating common warehouse equipment, entering and exporting data from programs such as CERES, Microsoft, and Canva, and maintaining the Sort room. Requiring dependable assistance in warehouse operations and safety procedures, this position works independently and with minimal direct supervision. This job requires working day and rotating evening shifts, Monday through Saturday. This position is highly visible to volunteers requiring strong relationship management and communication skills. This position maintains positive relationships and communication with colleagues across various internal departments within CTFB. Your Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent 1+ years of food service, manufacturing, warehouse, or food service Experience or willing to learn within a timeline in warehousing and demonstrated ability to operate various types of forklifts, pallets jacks, and other common warehouse equipment Ability to work in various climate conditions (warehouse, freezer, and cooler) Demonstrates good judgment and discretion Experience providing superior customer service with a focus on relationship management in a service-delivery setting. Ability to adapt timely and fast-paced communication style to unique audience and cultural context, proactively identifying and overcoming breakdowns in communication. Flexibility in response to change, adapting quickly to shifting priorities while staying focused on solving problems with creative solutions. Ability to interact effectively in the community and at multiple levels within organizations, especially those serving culturally and economically diverse communities. High level of emotional intelligence, political astuteness, diplomacy and relationship building skills. Good judgment and discretion; strong ethical character capable of handling confidential information. An understanding of and value equity as an organizational operating principle and are committed to continued learning on issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion. Experience with food distribution programs and/or other program development and implementation preferred. Experience with federal feeding programs through the USDA. Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, especially Salesforce preferred. Knowledge of racial justice, social equity and systemic racism; sensitivity to issues and concerns of communities of color and other diverse groups. Ability to balance attention to detail and goal/vision within program implementation. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite. Experience or willing to learn and work with other computer programs such as Canva. Belief in CTFB's mission, vision, values and culture. Your Responsibilities Handle material from warehouse to Sort area, which includes the operation of a forklift, jack truck, and/or other warehouse equipment, while operating in a safe manner Evaluate donated products according to established food safety standards Orient, instruct and maintain volunteer groups, large and small, on various projects, effectively communicating project instruction in a positive manner and working with large numbers of volunteers with a customer service focus, including volunteers that have cognitive/physical disabilities Oversee volunteers in sorting, boxing, and preparing food and grocery products for distribution while maintaining high levels of energy Work a flexible schedule, Monday-Saturday, day and evening shifts Monitor supplies needed for Sort operations, including boxes, tape, soaps and disinfectants, sponges, labels, etc. Keep Sort work areas clean and organized: remove trash, recycle cardboard, sweep and mop floors, and promote overall cleanliness and inspection readiness Keep an accurate log of the weights and sources of all food and grocery products donated and all agency receipts and shortages using an inventory control system or equipment such as a handheld electronic scanner Assess the condition of donated food, placing acceptable products in proper storage and immediately discarding unacceptable product Accurately enter and maintain information in required warehouse database systems, using our inventory system(CERES) or handheld inventory control equipment such as a scanner. Organizes, sort, and labels perishable foods that may require special handling Assist other program and services operations including direct distributions as needed. Maintain a steady line of communication to ensure programs that we assist with have a sufficient amount of inventory. Such programs include but are not limited to CSFP, Home Delivery, Backpack, etc.. Assist in the preparation of reports, data gathering, and completion of goals, metrics and deadlines. Commit to supporting CTFB's mission, vision, values, and culture. Perform additional duties as necessary and/or requested including utilizing language skills you possess for those we serve and the organization. Working Conditions Hours of Operation: Although organization hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m., after hours work is required occasionally throughout the year, especially during peak times and disaster relief. Environment: Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, repetitively lift and carry 50 lbs., perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle, and operate motor equipment. Conditions may include working inside or outside, working around machines with moving parts and moving objects, working closely with others, working alone, and working protracted or irregular hours. Equipment (machines, tools, devices) used in performing only the essential functions include computer and related equipment, calculator, copier, fax machine, telephone, and various types of forklifts, pallets jacks, and other common warehouse equipment. Travel: CTFB serves 21 counties in central Texas and often requires same-day travel between counties, using a personal vehicle, CTFB passenger fleet and possibly occasional out of town travel for meetings, special events or meeting for some positions.
